AGS – Active Grille Shutter Removal
Démontage de l'AGS (Active Grille Shutter) disables the ECU/BCM logic that controls the front active grille shutters. These shutters open and close to balance cooling and aerodynamics; when the mechatronic actuator, position sensor or wiring fails, the system raises DTCs and can force limp strategies. With this calibration the AGS logic is bypassed so the vehicle runs normally without AGS-related errors.
What it solves: persistent AGS faults (stuck open/closed), broken actuator gears, position sensor errors, wiring corrosion, or missing shutters after front-end modifications.
Typical fault codes include examples like P059F (Active Grille Air Shutter “A” Performance/Stuck Off), P069E / manufacturer-specific “Front shutter blocked” and similar AGS monitoring DTCs depending on make/model.
Quand utiliser
- Front-end repair or aftermarket bumper/IC install where the shutter assembly is removed or interferes with fitment.
- Actuator or position sensor failure causing recurring DTCs and warning messages.
- Cold climate icing or debris repeatedly blocking shutters.
- Track/off-road usage where aerodynamic shutters are unnecessary.
Aperçu technique
The AGS system typically consists of a DC actuator with integrated position feedback, a control module (BCM/PCM integration varies), and diagnostic routines that validate travel times, end-stop position and electrical integrity. When the assembly is removed or jammed, the ECU/BCM logs DTCs and may alter cooling fan or thermal strategies.
- Entrées : coolant and ambient temperature, vehicle speed, A/C load, desired drag reduction.
- Sorties : commanded shutter angle, actuator drive, plausibility checks and fault timers.
- Diagnostics : circuit/open/short tests, travel time plausibility, stuck/blocked detection.
Le Déménagement AGS calibration disables the monitoring logic and related readiness checks specific to the shutter subsystem, leaving radiator fan and engine thermal control fully operational through standard ECU maps.
