Cylinder deactivation off file service — €49.99 per file, engineered on your original ECU read.
Cylinder Deactivation Off – AFM, DFM, MDS & ACT Delete
At light load many petrol engines shut off part of their cylinders to save fuel. This file disables that strategy in the ECU: the engine always runs on all cylinders. Every other function and protection stays as it is.
Cylinder deactivation systems we disable
| System | Brands | Typical engines |
|---|---|---|
| AFM / DFM | Chevrolet, Cadillac | GM 5.3 and 6.2 V8 |
| MDS | Dodge | 5.7 and 6.4 HEMI V8 |
| ACT | VW, Seat, Skoda, Cupra, Audi | 4-cylinder TSI / TFSI petrol |
| COD | Audi | 4.0 TFSI V8 |
| Cylinder deactivation | Ford | 1.0 EcoBoost 3-cylinder |
Engines are examples. What decides support is your ECU and its software version: check it below.

Software delete or hardware delete kit?
An AFM, DFM or MDS delete kit replaces the deactivating lifters with standard ones. The ECU must then stop asking for cylinder deactivation, otherwise it keeps commanding hardware that is no longer there. Our file does exactly that. With the original hardware still fitted, the file alone keeps all cylinders active.
When to disable cylinder deactivation
- Vibration, drone or hesitation when the engine switches between full and reduced cylinder mode.
- After an AFM, DFM or MDS delete kit, to match the calibration to the new hardware.
- Tuned engines that need constant, predictable torque.
- Towing and track use, where the engine should never drop cylinders.
Before ordering: the file changes only the deactivation strategy. It does not repair valve-train faults (lifters, solenoids, oil pressure). If the engine already shows misfire or valve-train fault codes, find the cause first.
How the calibration is engineered
The ECU decides when to shut off cylinders from engine speed, load, temperature and gear. We work in three steps: assessment (ECU, software version and deactivation strategy), calibration (the request for reduced cylinder mode is disabled, nothing else changes) and flash & verify (the engine stays on all cylinders). Expect slightly higher fuel consumption at light load: that is the saving the system was built for.
Compliance and related services
Cylinder deactivation is part of the manufacturer’s fuel-economy and CO₂ strategy. Disabling it is intended for uses where local regulations allow it; compliance is the responsibility of the vehicle owner. Often combined with ECU remapping, Start & Stop Removal and Torque Monitoring Disable.

Frequently asked questions
Which cylinder deactivation systems do you disable?
AFM and DFM on GM V8 engines, MDS on Dodge HEMI engines, ACT and COD on VW Group engines and the cylinder deactivation of supported Ford EcoBoost ECUs. Support depends on the ECU software version, which we check on your original file.
Is this the same as an AFM or MDS delete kit?
No. A delete kit changes the lifters; our file changes the ECU strategy. After a kit, the ECU must be calibrated too. With the original hardware, the file alone keeps all cylinders active.
Will fuel consumption increase?
Slightly, at light load: that is the saving the system was built for. At medium and high load the engine already runs on all cylinders, so nothing changes there.
Can it be combined with a remap?
Yes. Cylinder deactivation can be disabled on the original calibration or together with a Stage 1 or custom remap in the same file.
Can I go back to the factory setting?
Yes. Keep your original read: flashing it back restores the factory cylinder deactivation strategy.
