VAG ECU & TCU Clone File Service
Replace a faulty engine ECU or gearbox TCU with a compatible donor while retaining the vehicle’s existing immobilizer relationship. We transfer the supported immobilizer data from your original reads to the replacement files for supported Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT, Škoda, Cupra, Bentley and Porsche applications.
€69.99 per replacement ECU or TCU, VAT included. Includes review of the supplied original/donor reads, the processed replacement file(s) and writing notes.
Need a VIN change, individual data edits or a data report from one unit? See ECU / TCU data editing and immobilizer data extraction, each at €39.99 per unit.
What the clone service includes
- Engine ECU replacement: transfer of the supported immobilizer identity to a compatible donor.
- DSG / automatic gearbox TCU replacement: supported data transfer for the listed mechatronic and transmission controllers.
- Compatibility review: we assess the supplied hardware/software identification, immobilizer generation and relevant data before processing.
- Ready-to-write output: processed replacement file(s) with notes on which components to write and any remaining workshop steps.
Cloning transfers the required supported data; it does not mean copying every byte of the original unit. Coding, basic settings and gearbox adaptations may still be required after writing.
ECU and TCU families covered
Use this list to identify your unit. Cloning depends on the exact version and donor compatibility; send both units’ hardware and software numbers for review.

SHE exception: some versions, including certain MED17.1.62 and EDC17C74 units, store essential immobilizer data in a protected hardware area. Listing the family above does not promise conventional cloning of those versions.
Files and information to send
- Complete bench/boot backups of both original and donor: full FLASH and EEPROM where available separately.
- Clearly labelled original and donor folders, including split FLASH files and read logs.
- Hardware and software numbers of both units, vehicle VIN, model and engine details.
- Reading/writing tool and donor MCU ID where required. Send the identification report and copy the identifier accurately.
- Original soft coding saved before removal so it can be restored when needed.
A calibration-only or virtual read is insufficient. Send the complete backup produced by your tool rather than removing components from it.
How to order and complete the replacement
- Submit: use the VAG ECU & TCU Clone order and upload both units’ complete reads and identification.
- Review: we check the pairing and process the supported immobilizer transfer.
- Write: use the supplied file(s) and writing notes with your appropriate programmer.
- Finish: restore coding and carry out any required basic settings, adaptations and diagnostic checks.
Standard jobs typically take 15–20 minutes during working hours, daily 07:00–23:00 CET, once complete usable files have been received. Additional investigation may take longer.
Checksum: the writing notes identify whether correction is included or must be performed by your tool. Any separate checksum work is confirmed before processing.
Compatibility and limits
Start with matching hardware and immobilizer generation, preferably matching software. A different software version on compatible hardware may require writing the original FLASH; we check this for the actual pair. Different immobilizer generations cannot be treated as a standard clone.
Where essential immobilizer data is protected by SHE, conventional cloning is unavailable. Some cases may have a separate IMMO Off solution, subject to review. IMMO Off does not make incompatible hardware work, and it is not a substitute for key programming when all keys are lost.
This is a professional file service for workshops, tuners and locksmiths authorised to repair the vehicle, on stationary vehicles. It does not repair physical ECU faults or unrelated vehicle problems.
Frequently asked questions
Which donor unit should I choose?
Start with the same hardware number and immobilizer generation as the original, preferably with matching software. Send both identifications for review. Where the same hardware supports the original software, writing the original FLASH may be part of the replacement procedure; this is checked for the actual pair.
Can you clone between WFS4, WFS5 and WFS6?
No. The source and donor must use the same immobilizer generation. We identify the generation from supported reads rather than relying on model year alone.
Can an ECU with SHE be cloned?
Conventional cloning is unavailable when required immobilizer data is protected by SHE and cannot be extracted. Depending on the exact ECU, a separate IMMO Off solution and VIN edit may be possible. We assess these separately; neither is promised solely because the ECU family appears in the coverage list.
What is the MCU ID and where do I find it?
It is the processor identifier used by supported operations. Depending on your tool, it appears in identification information, the read log or the backup filename. Send the original report and copy the value exactly. It cannot always be obtained from the FLASH file alone.
Will coding and gearbox adaptations be transferred?
Do not assume they are included in the immobilizer transfer. Save the original coding and carry out the required coding, basic settings and gearbox adaptations after writing. A completed clone does not repair existing mechanical, electrical or communication faults.
Is checksum correction included?
The writing notes identify whether the supplied files already have corrected checksums or require correction by your programmer. Any separate checksum work is confirmed before processing.
What does the EUR 69.99 price cover?
The clone file service for one compatible replacement ECU or TCU, including review of the supplied original/donor files, the processed output and writing notes. The price includes VAT. Transferring immobilizer data from an original unit to a donor is a clone service at EUR 69.99, not standalone editing at EUR 39.99. IMMO Off is a separate service.
Do I need the original ECU reads?
Yes. The standard clone service needs complete usable reads from both the original and replacement unit. If the original cannot be read, request a review before ordering; another operation may be needed.
I only need a VIN edit or an immobilizer data report. Which service should I choose?
Use our separate ECU / TCU data editing and immobilizer data extraction page. Each standard service costs EUR 39.99 per unit including VAT. Transferring data from an original unit to a donor remains cloning at EUR 69.99.
