Nos motores a gasolina, o flap do acelerador mede o ar fresco para definir o torque e a potência; nos motores a diesel modern, ele suporta principalmente EGR operação e desligamento suave. Com o passar do tempo, os atuadores do acelerador podem se prender ou falhar e acionar o acionamento persistente DTCs (por exemplo, códigos na faixa de P2100 a P2119), causando instabilidade em marcha lenta, redução de potência ou mode.
