🎯 Precision Dyno Testing and Calibration

To achieve optimal air-fuel ratios (lambda) and ignition timing, we perform steady-state dyno testing — not only at wide-open throttle (WOT), but across all load and RPM ranges.

This process, also known as a spark hook test, allows us to determine the ideal combustion timing and ensure perfect calibration consistency under every driving condition. Our dyno testing methodology follows OEM-level standards for repeatability and accuracy.

🏆 SuperFlow AWD30 Dyno & NEDC Testing

TuningBot is one of the few tuning companies equipped with a SuperFlow AWD30 dynamometer, featuring an integrated NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) test system for standardized fuel consumption measurement.

This advanced dyno testing setup enables us to precisely measure average fuel consumption under fully controlled conditions — the same standardized procedure used by OEM manufacturers to certify fuel efficiency and publish comparable consumption figures.

This allows us to develop accurate and verified fuel-saving calibrations, supported by real-world dyno testing data.

💎 Our Philosophy: Quality Above All

At TuningBot, quality is the foundation of everything we do. We don’t simply “add fuel and air” or “delete limiters” — our approach is based on engineering integrity and deep ECU architecture understanding.

Our international team of automotive engineers continuously develops and refines tuning files through extensive dyno testing. Whenever a new ECU or software version enters the market, we perform a full structural analysis:

  • Tracing the complete fuel and air management pathways
  • Studying all related maps and their interactions
  • Applying the correct scaling factors, offsets, and map dependencies

This meticulous approach ensures all adjustments follow the manufacturer’s original logic, delivering OEM-level smoothness with professional performance enhancement. Many clients — including importers and authorized dealers — confidently offer TuningBot tuning under their own warranty.

🔬 Technical Expertise

📊 Data Logging & Validation

During dyno testing and development, we log as many parameters as possible — both ECU requests and actual sensor readings. When a requested value doesn’t match the real outcome, we identify and correct inefficiencies.

This method not only verifies our modifications but also reveals potential weak points in the engine system.

🌀 Turbocharger Control

When optimizing turbo behavior, we always consult the turbo manufacturer’s technical specifications. Requested boost levels are set below the maximum rated capacity, and boost buildup is carefully managed to prevent underpressure or surge.

Each turbo has a defined pump efficiency range; our calibrations stay within it to ensure long-term reliability.

⛽ Fuel Injection System

We analyze injector pulse duration and modify fueling by adjusting rail pressure and/or injection timing depending on the specific engine type.

All changes are made with attention to injector duty cycle and fuel system load, ensuring durability and minimal stress.

💉 Start of Injection (SOI)

When adjusting injection parameters, we recalibrate the start of injection to keep the combustion peak at the optimal point in the cylinder cycle.

Many tuners ignore this critical aspect, leading to inefficient combustion, loss of power, and premature engine wear.

⚡ Ignition Timing

Proper ignition advance is essential when boost or fuel delivery changes. If ignition is not corrected, the combustion peak may occur too early, leading to detonation and severe engine damage.

Our engineers carefully optimize ignition timing to keep the torque peak aligned with ideal combustion flow.

🔥 Lambda Control

We continuously monitor and adjust the air-fuel ratio (lambda) for both petrol and diesel engines. Since performance upgrades increase combustion temperatures, maintaining the correct mixture is crucial:

  • Rich mixtures protect the engine under high load
  • Lean mixtures improve fuel economy during partial throttle

Our calibrations strike the ideal balance between power, efficiency, and thermal safety.

🎮 Throttle Response

Some OEM calibrations — particularly on brands like Volvo or Mercedes-Benz — have soft or delayed throttle response.

We can make the throttle mapping more linear and responsive, providing a sharper, more engaging driving experience.

🌡️ EGT & Temperature Monitoring

We constantly monitor Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) values during dyno testing to prevent excessive heat that could damage the catalytic converter or turbocharger.

All available temperature sensors are monitored to ensure thermal stability and safe operation across all systems.

🏁 Special Projects

Before undertaking any custom high-performance project, we perform a comprehensive pre-tuning inspection:

  • Compression testing
  • Oil analysis for contamination
  • Data logging of requested vs. actual parameters
  • Baseline performance evaluation on dyno

Only after this assessment do we determine which components require replacement or reinforcement before tuning.

🔘 DPF Systems

During dyno testing, we evaluate DPF load before and after tuning:

  • Stage 1 tunes maintain full DPF functionality
  • Stage 2 produces more power and higher soot output — often exceeding DPF regeneration capacity. In such cases, the DPF is physically removed and electronically disabled (DPF off)

🚀 The Future of ECU Calibration

Modern engine management has evolved dramatically. With advanced injection strategies, hybrid powertrains, and complex environmental systems, ECU calibration demands deep technical knowledge and extensive dyno testing.

Each ECU generation brings greater software diversity:

  • EDC15: 19 variants
  • EDC16: 52 variants
  • EDC17: 100+ configurations
  • MDG1: even more variants

TuningBot maintains leadership through constant development, extensive dyno testing, and direct feedback from our customer network.
