GPF removal (also known as GPF / OPF / PPF Off) is a professional ECU calibration that deactivates gasoline particulate-filter logic and related diagnostics to keep drivability stable without the physical filter, only where lawful (motorsport or off-road use).
GPF / OPF / PPF Removal Service (Gasoline Particulate Filter Off)

The GPF / OPF / PPF Off service by TuningBot disables particulate-filter control strategies and diagnostic monitors directly inside the ECU, ensuring OEM-like behavior with correct fueling and exhaust temperature management. Each calibration is engineered, bench-validated and dyno-verified to maintain safety margins and drivability on vehicles where a GPF removal is required for off-road or motorsport use.
From Euro 6c onward, many gasoline direct-injection (GDI) engines adopted a gasoline particulate filter (GPF, OPF or PPF). When the filter clogs or regenerates too often (short trips, urban cycles, sporty driving), backpressure rises, power drops and limp-mode may appear. A correctly engineered GPF Off calibration restores exhaust flow, prevents forced regenerations and eliminates filter-related DTCs.
*For motorsport or off-road applications, or where permitted by local law.*
When is GPF / OPF / PPF removal recommended?
Gasoline particulate filters trap fine soot from GDI engines. Frequent short journeys and cold usage often prevent complete regeneration, gradually leading to blockage, dashboard warnings and repeated error codes. In these scenarios, an ECU-level GPF removal solution for off-road or motorsport setups avoids recurring faults while maintaining smooth drivability.
Benefits of professional GPF removal calibration
Reducing exhaust restriction helps the engine breathe better, keeps exhaust gas temperatures lower under load and reduces stress on turbochargers, exhaust valves and catalysts. When executed correctly, a professional GPF removal improves throttle consistency, reduces backpressure and can enhance real-world efficiency in performance-oriented use.

Why this type of GPF removal requires expert engineering
Modern GDI engines rely on precise exhaust temperature modeling, particulate-load estimation and catalyst protection strategies. When the GPF becomes clogged or damaged, the ECU may trigger frequent regenerations, torque limitation and multiple fault codes. A generic or poorly executed GPF removal can leave parts of these routines in an inconsistent state, causing unstable fueling, random throttle cuts or oscillating boost control. TuningBot designs each file so that all dependent subsystems, such as post-injection scheduling, temperature limits, catalyst protection thresholds and airflow calculation, remain coherent. This multi-step approach keeps drivability predictable and reduces the risk of long-term issues.

How GPF / OPF / PPF Off calibration is engineered
A proper strategy disables soot-load tracking, regeneration routines and associated monitors while preserving torque model integrity and air / fuel control. TuningBot adjusts all relevant switches and checksum handling so the ECU no longer attempts regenerations nor stores filter-specific DTCs. The engine remains predictable, with diagnostics unrelated to the filter kept intact.
Typical symptoms before the service
- Frequent regenerations and increased fuel consumption.
- Oil dilution and shortened oil-change intervals.
- Limp-mode with DTCs for differential pressure or exhaust temperature sensors.
- High backpressure stressing turbocharger, exhaust valves and catalysts.
Expected behavior after the service
- Stable operation with regeneration logic and counters disabled.
- Lower exhaust backpressure and reduced EGT at full load.
- Improved throttle response and smoother torque delivery.
Compliance, usage and ECU coverage
This calibration is intended for non-road use, such as track, competition or off-road applications, unless your jurisdiction explicitly allows operation without a gasoline particulate filter. Always verify local regulations before using such a vehicle on public roads.
To check overall ECU coverage and available services across all platforms, consult the ECU Service Coverage page. If your software code is not listed, upload the ORI via Tune Your File: new variants are regularly added on request.
